Amazon is making grocery shopping even more convenient for customers across the U.S. The retail giant has expanded its free same-day grocery delivery service to over 1,000 cities and towns, with plans to reach 2,300 locations by the end of 2025.

The expanded service offers a wide selection of fresh groceries including produce, dairy, meat, seafood, baked goods, and frozen foods. Prime members can enjoy free same-day delivery on orders over $25, while non-Prime users can access the service for a $12.99 fee.

This move is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to enhance its grocery delivery offerings, which already include Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market, both online and in-store. The company plans to continue expanding its fresh delivery network well into 2026.

Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, shared: “We’re constantly innovating to make grocery shopping simpler, faster, and more affordable—especially for Prime members.”

Customers have responded positively to the addition of perishable items like milk, eggs, and bananas, with increased frequency in grocery orders. Strawberries and Honeycrisp apples are now among the top-selling products.

To maintain quality, Amazon uses a temperature-controlled fulfillment network and a six-point freshness check. Orders arrive in recyclable insulated bags to keep products fresh.

Herrington added, “Many customers try the service for a few items, then realize how easy and reliable it is. They’re turning to Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods for more of their regular grocery needs.”

In 2024 alone, Amazon recorded over $100 billion in grocery and household essentials sales, signaling growing trust in its delivery services.
